LABtoLAB was a network of media labs set up by 4 European organizations that are active in the field of new media: Constant, Kitchen Budapest (HU), Medialab-Prado, Madrid (ES), PiNG, Nantes (FR)

From 2009 to 2011, meetings, workshops and seminars took place in Budapest, Madrid, Brussels and Nantes. Each encounter opened up to a wider community of labs and individuals, and extended beyond European borders.

LABtoLAB aimed to create a platform for sharing experiences and ways of doing, exploring the role of the lab in offering spaces for collaborative learning and knowledge exchange, studying specific cases and examining the possibilities of life-long learning in the context of the lab.

The website http://www.labtolab.org documents the process and its outcomes.

Acta, informatie mailinglijst

Als follow-up voor de Expression of Concern over ACTA maakten we een mailing lijst om nieuwe informatie over de overeenkomst van de Agreement te verspreiden. De lijst was ook een gelegenheid om ideeën voor actie uit te wisselen en een debat over verschillende strategieën te starten.

LABtoLAB was een Europees netwerk van medialabs dat een platform creëerde voor:
– het delen van ervaringen en praktijken;
– onderzoek van specifieke cases;
– onderzoek van de rol van het lab als een ruimte voor samenwerkingsgerichte leerpraktijken en kennisuitwisseling;
– onderzoek naar mogelijkheden van levenslang leren in de context van een lab.

Van 2009 tot 2011 vonden ontmoetingen, workshops en seminaries plaats in
Budapest, Madrid, Brussel en Nantes. Elke ontmoeting was een opening naar een breder netwerk van labs en individuele kunstenaars, binnen en ook buiten Europa. Van 8 tot 10 juni 2011 vond de laatste ontmoeting plaats in Ping, Nantes.

– étudier des cas spécifiques;
– explorer le rôle du lab comme espace d'apprentissage collaboratif et d'échange de savoirs;
– étudier les possibilités de l'éducation permanente dans le contexte du lab;

De 2009 a 2011, des rencontres, ateliers et séminaires ont pris place à Budapest, Madrid, Bruxelles et Nantes. Chaque rencontre s'est ouverte à une communaute élargie de labs et de personnes, et s'est étendue au-delà des frontières européennes.

Du 8 au 10 juin 2011, la dernière rencontre de la série aura lieu à Ping, Nantes.

ACTA, expression of concern

We, members of the Labtolab network, have become convinced that the measures evoked by the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA*) will make our work harder, less efficient and sometimes even impossible.

In a letter of concern, supported by major institutions, artists and thinkers in the field of digital media, we explain aspects of our work and the negative impact that the adoption of the ACTA would have on it. We hope the members of the European Parliament find enough reasons for not supporting the treaty when an opinion to the European Court of Justice can still be requested and the treaty still not be signed.

Constant maakte deel uit van LabtoLab, een Europees netwerk voor uitwisseling tussen media-organisaties. In de week van 24 - 29 januari bezochten onze partners Medialab Prado Madrid, Kitchen Budapest en Crealab / PING, Nantes, Constant en andere medialabs in Brussel.

De samenwerking werd gefinancierd als onderdeel van het Grundtvig-programma, en onderzocht het begrip 'informeel leren'. Wat kunnen wij als op genetwerkte organisaties met een gedeelde interesse in technologie, open source, kunst en maatschappij, van elkaar leren? Hoe kan onze dagelijkse praktijk bijdragen aan informele 'kennisoverdracht'?

Constant takes part in the European exchange network of media-organisations LabtoLab. In the week of 24 - 29 January, our partners Medialab Prado Madrid, Kitchen Budapest and PING Nantes will visit Constant and other medialabs in Brussels.

The collaboration is funded as part of the Grundtvig programme, and investigates the notion of 'informal learning'. What can we as remotely operating organisations that share interests in technology, open source, art and society, learn from each other? How does our daily practice contribute to non-formalised 'knowledge transfer'?
