Constant opens up a new portal hosted by Imane B.K. to gather and think, write, make, break, bake and form thoughts together on what a "coding club" might be. As challenging as it is to create a space that welcomes and fosters awkardness, confusions and misfits around coding, we want to weave a thread that might lead us to demistify different thematics that revolve around code, computing and their politics.
We want to move away from the idea that a coding club is just a group of (mostly cis male) people behind screens writing optimized code. What lies beyond the pursuit of efficiency and growth, beyond the capitalist and technocratic ideals that so often shape our digital tools?
The coding club warmly welcomes you to explore joyful, comfortable, and collective ways of learning, sharing, and experimenting. Some things we might try include:
- hacking, opening up devices, perhaps breaking a few
- how Html can help us with accessibility
- virtual/physical lock picking in different spaces
- collective readings
- cyberwitching
- ...
This club is set to meet regularly, please contact us at: imane@constantvzw.org if you have any question or would like to join.
! Keep an eye on Constant’s website for the upcoming dates !
